About us

Serving local people

Our History

Sandbach Art Room, has become the local name for the non profit organisation Cheshire Arts for Health.  As the name suggests we use all forms of the arts to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the community, including those with mental health issues, long term illness, Dementia and those with learning and physical disabilities - which in turn improves people's lives and that of their carers and family.

The organisation was founded in 2012, after much research and collation of local knowledge, the first Arts for Wellbeing workshop was run from a small upstairs premises over shops on the High Street in Sandbach.  In 2015 the organisation expanded into adjacent premises/rooms. This allowed the organisation to run more than one session at a time and a separate room designated as a counselling room.

In 2019 the organisation finally secured ground floor premises, an old bank on Bradwall Road in Sandbach.  There was a great deal of refurbishment to be done but this space would allow the organisation to grow but more importantly allowed it to be fully accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.

The organisation has steadily grown over the years and now has a full itinerary of art, wellbeing and counselling sessions throughout the week, run by qualified and experienced tutors and counsellors.  There is much work to be done to the new premises but the move has now made our services accessible to all.

Within the ground floor building there is a shop and gallery, displaying an eclectic mix of handmade goods from sewing, knitting, crochet, painting, modelling and woodwork.  All items are for sale and is a wonderful place to start your search for that special present.
